The Sutter Club facilities were designed, funded and built by the Members. It opened to great fanfare in January, 1930. In 2017 to preserve the Club for many years to come, and with the support of our Membership, the Board of Directors created and founded the Sutter Club Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charitable organization. The Sutter Club was awarded a Building of Distinction in Sacramento by the Office of Historic Preservation and is now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

The continuing goal of the Sutter Club Foundation will be to protect and conserve the facilities for many future generations to ensure its continued elegance, vitality and heritage in California's capital city. The maintenance of local architect Charles Dean's California Mission-style architecture in a pristine condition is a priority for the Foundation.
PUBLIC GROUP TOURS
The Sutter Club Foundation, an IRS 501(c)(3) organization is making available public group
tours of the historic Sutter Club building at 1220 9th Street in
Sacramento, one block west of the California Capitol building grounds. The Sutter Club Foundation is committed to
preserving and protecting this nearly 100-year-old iconic building which is so
much a part of the history of Sacramento.
Your one-and-a-half-hour docent guided tour will explore this 5 story
Spanish style iconic building. If you

The Sutter Club Arts Fund
In 2018, The Sutter Club Arts Fund was created to enhance the public display of artwork in the Club. It offers an opportunity to gift artwork, thereby expanding our collection. We invite you to become an “Arts Fund” donor and help build the art collection. Works from local artists are encouraged. Since the founding of the fund, works donated by donors now hang on the walls of The Sutter Club.
